Bio
Jianing “Jed” Yang is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Engineering
at the University of Michigan, advised by Joyce Chai and collaborating with
David Fouhey in the SLED lab. His research focuses on understanding the 3D
physical world through vision and language, enabling robots to act in such
environments in a generalizable and controllable manner.
He has published in and served as a reviewer for CVPR, NeurIPS, ICRA, ACL, and
EMNLP. He was a co-leader of the University of Michigan team that won 1st place
in the Amazon Alexa Prize SimBot Challenge.
Before UMich, he earned a Master’s in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon
University, working with Louis-Philippe Morency and Matt Gormley, and a
Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Georgia Tech.
