Bio

Jianing “Jed” Yang is a Ph.D. student in Computer Science and Engineering at University of Michigan. His research spans Embodied AI, NLP and Robotics. He studies natural language understanding grounded to robots and physical world, and using langauge as feedback to teach and improve embodied agent. He was a co-leader in a team representing U-M that won the 1st place in the Amazon Alexa Prize SimBot Challenge. He has published and served as a reviewer for conferences including ACL, EMNLP, NAACL and COLING. He has also co-organized academic workshops including the Multimodal Artificial Intelligence workshop at NAACL 2021. Before joining U-M, he obtained his Master’s in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University and his Bachelor's in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. He has also worked as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Web Services, intern and full-time.
